  197. Anybody having any modifications for the Realistic PRO-2032?
  198. I am especially interested in changing the step from 5kHz to 12.5kHz in the
  199. 68-88 MHz band. 5kHz doesn't "fit" the channelsteps in Sweden <grin>.
  200. Any other modification is of course of BIG interest!

  229. That's oversimplifying things a bit, I think.  I'm  a VE too...we give all
  230. of our exam sessions following our club meetings, which means we never
  231. even START before 8:30 pm, and we're expected to be out of our meeting
  232. site by 11.  Given the amount of time it takes for a person to take all
  233. those written exams, it would not be possible for us to do a nonlicensed
  234. to extra upgrade!  I'm sure many other teams have the same problem.  We
  235. don't keep any of the money anyway.  I and my fellow VE's have spent 100's
  236. of hours on our job and an extra $5.75 exam fee doesn't really mean much. 
  237. I'd personally LOVE to have the opportunity to serve someone who could do
  238. such an upgrade but in our case it isn't practical.  73 - Alan NS0B

  269. I owned an Astron RS20A on an extended business trip and sold it when I
  270. got home. I was very happy with it, but I sold it because I use a 40A
  271. Luke in my shack. It has been running continuously for three years
  272. for packet and VHF ragchewing without incident. Pricey, but _very_
  273. reliable.

  283. possibly selling an RF Amplifier for handhelds. .Has anyone heard any-

  301. Actually there isn't.  Ten Tec actually sold the 2510 Mode B satellite
  302. station, which transmitted on 435 and converted 2 meters to 10 meters.
  303. See the October 1985 issue of QST for a product review.

  305. I'm not sure how sensible the requirement is on the millimetric bands,
  306. like 241 GHz.  I'd consider it perfectly acceptable for someone to get
  307. their transmitter going first, perhaps aligning it with some sort of
  308. waveguide filter/detector, and then working on a usable receiver after
  309. he has some known signal source (the transmitter).  In some areas,
  310. it might even make sense to set up a beacon and see who can hear it
  311. first.
